another week in the coastal range
getting drier and drier

got to believe not many problems solved by guns

i grew up in the southern part of the usa
don't see much use in flying a flag of the side that lost
used to live on a gravel road that had wagon parts
buried in the dirt from the civil war
knew a lot of guys that were living in the sixties
the eighteen sixties
kind of in a rut if you ask me
a wagon rut
my concern now is whether the earth beneath my
feet
where ever i might be standing
is going to be able to support the critters
that have lived there since way before
hominids came into existence

the president calmly spoke
as a thoughtful and intelligent leader
about the need to be concerned about more than
a word said in dis-respect
were are going to miss his honesty in years to come
some of the candidates are yelping about
taking this country back
back from where
they sound like the german guy back in the 1930"s
it has become a tournament of absurdities
and nonsense on stilts

i just finished reading a book on junk
recycling around the globe
one company in china pays 150 women
one hundred dollars a month and room and board
to sort metal
in America the same metal is sorted by a giant
series of machines run by one man
i saw today a new Holland machine picking up
bales of hay from a field
i used to do that work
now a machine can do it faster and better
and without the work of half a dozen men
does it ever occur to  any politician to say
hey we have modernized our society and so
there are not as many people needed and
therefore there are fewer jobs and so we need
to help the citizens with their essentials

and that gets us on the slippery slope to communism

well maybe we can call it something more appealing
lets call it Christian charity
or Buddhist charity
or hindo charity
or maybe being responsible to our fellow humans
who cares
but it is obvious that we have less jobs
and more people
do the math

i heard a woman keep talking about I.D.P.
internally displaced people
that is pretty scary
they need to be called
fellow human beings
and not some initial
50 million displaced human beings
who in the hell keeps selling all these guns
and tanks and rockets anyhow
i know usa is good for 40% of the arms sells
we need to look at what is happening around the
world with all those weapons
sometimes it just seems hopeless

oh yeah i almost forgot
that image at the top of the page
that is a spot where i recorded 20 minutes
of frog choruses a couple of months ago
it got around that the frogs were there
and someone moved two boulders
of several tons each
and drove a
super cooterbutt vehicle up there and
drove around in that little habitat
just to be a psychopath i suppose

i have been watching this mountainside
for a couple of years
it has occurred to me that the soil is organic
because there has been nothing put on it\
for 30 or 40 years
some folks do not want the timber
companies to spray poison to kill the plants
that inhibit the growth of the trees that have been
planted to be harvested again in 40 or 50 years.
i have walked in the forests before they are harvested
and there is a lot of marketable growth that the
timber companies do not bother with
the herbs and many of the other plants have
monetary value as well as some of the non-timber trees
it seems to me that if the timber companies would allow
people to pay a fee to go in a couple of years before
harvest time and remove what has value
and let organic growers come in after the timber is
harvested and plant the fir trees and mulch for herbs
or whatever plants they might want to grow for profit
the symbiotic relationship between the community
and the timber companies would be enhanced
and more capital would be available to the capitalists

and the brush rabbit would be happier

I was walking along the road and
spotted this beautiful amphibian
and decided to document it
a few days later I read that these
animals sometimes growl and bite
this one did not do that
they are a lot like a water balloon
very soft and mushy
I figured they must have a way to
protect themselves
as I looked there was a clear liquid
which was coming out of the pores
I figure if you got on your hands
and then into your mouth or eyes
you might go blind or get real sick
that is the reason they are not eaten
by other animals

I see a lot of nice wildlife while I am
out in the woods
a few days ago I decided I needed\
to catch the mouse that was running
across my head at night
so I set the trap and the next day it was caught
it was a nice fat mouse
and since I did not need it to eat
I set it out by the road for perhaps
a skunk or a hawk to eat
so there it lay
on it's brown back with it's white
belly and four legs sticking up
later as I sat reading I heard the
swoosh of wings and I figured
it was the crows that come around and
ask for crackers
I look over and what do I see
a couple of turkey vultures
the ones with the red heads
I felt so bad about two big vultures
only having a little mouse
it was a fat mouse but it was still
just a mouse
anyhow I gathered up the chicken bones
and the skin I took off the baked chicken
and sat it out by the road and sure enough
the ate that also
the vultures have been protected by law
for 300 years in this country
because the always clean up the dead animals
I saw a dead vulture in the ditch a few days ago
probably someone shot it
too bad
the thing that I wonder about is do the
vultures find their food by smell
or by sight
the mouse was fresh and did not stink
and it was very small
I still wonder
about that
I named the salamander

been more than a month since i wrote in this blog
i took a lot of photos which i wanted to post
but the situation does not now permit me to post them
seems my writing has caused some upsetment to some

thats right sir, as you can see this perso has driven his truck
right through out house, me and Mr. Greene E. Frogg.
We both live here in this little puddle of water on the side of the
road. He come through here on a regular basis and drives that
big tire truck right through out house. It is not legal and he should be
arrested and fined and his truck taken away and such as that.

Well, Mr. Cooterbutt, as we can see the puddle of water has been
driven through and it is not legal and your truck is covered in mud.
Do you have anything to say about that.

yeah, I dont care a hoot about no lizards and toad frogs,
I like to drive in the mud and i got big tires, what I paid
a lot of money fer, and I like to get the truck all muddy and
drive around town and show of cause the girls like it.

this little mix up in identity has been around

recently I saw a photo in a local paper
of a person who was naked and facing the camera
the person had a male body and had apparently spent some
time exercising and could be described as "buff"
the crotch area of the person was covered by a pair
or manicured hands with red nails
female hands
the buff person was described as Female to Male
the hands were the persons partner
and they were Male to Female hands
the male person needed to have male hormones
to achieve the muscle mass
and the mammary glands had been removed
all things considered he was a handsome fellow

for many years I have heard it said by women
time and time and time again
that men are fixated on womens bodies
and they objectify them

so why can a transgender person fixate
on their bodies and no one says it is sexist
but if an average person acknowledges an attractive body
they are a pervert
I do not intend to pander to the hypocrisy and moral
double entry bookkeeping that attempts to describe me
