"Simplicissimus" "The notion that science and spirituality..."

got to be quick
been reading and here are some of my notes
and my interpretation of them

people have worshiped something or other for a long time
the Venus statues go back many thousand years
there is the cult of the rosary (Rosa coeli) which was began by St. Dominic

there was the cult of Nezahualcoytl the sensual coyote diety

there is the Anthropic Cosmological Principal which says that
the cosmos was created to produce cosmologist so the cosmos could
experience itself...sounds odd to me but cosmologists may believe that

there is a difference between philosophy and theology
Plato was a philosopher whose real name was Aristocles
which means "broad shouldered" and he was a competitive
wrestler and wrote something like soap operas before he got
into the philosophy business
his teacher was Socrates
I have read and memorized all of Socrates writing
Socrates never wrote anything however..but it sounds good
Socrates said writing is like a painting and cannot change
but he thought his opinion changes with his experiences
so why write them down...smart guy that Socrates
Aristotle was taught by Plato but he abandoned Plato's school when
they did not make him the head honcho
Diotima was a woman who supposedly taught Socrates a thing or two

a Buddhist fellow has this idea about belief
"When we die our bodies begin their "dissolution" and then
our mind begins it's "dissolution" and the mind drops it's anger,
and it's ignorance and it's desire, all of which cloud the mind
and at this time it is possible to see existence in its reality."
that is why they meditate so much because they want to be ready
for the clear mind time...what happens then I forget..something big.

now this phrase is important
"Combinitorial innovation- proposes that progress comes from the right
combination of existing ideas."  sounds like a plan to me

here is an idea from a Nobel prize winning physicist who hade some
very profound insight about the nature of the universe

"All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force...
We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and
intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter." Max Planck

I am not sure why he thought there must be a conscious and intelligent mind
behind the force...Steven Weinberg thought just the opposite and he also
had a Nobel prize in physics...

then there are people who dont have much of a curiosity
about anything...but they do place a high priority on certain things.

"A test of every religious, political or educatuional system
is the person that it forms."  H.F. Amiel

"Therefore hold to things which are reliable..."

My neighbor in the desert come to visit

been reading in "Archaeology" magazine
folks digging up stuff all over the place
old animals   old people   old animals almost people
hominin    thats us  I think I may be around some Dmanisi people now.
now that we have become a lot more sophisticated as humans
we might do well to think about what we are doing to ourselves
and our planet
I was watching one of my DVD's about "The Machinery of War"
sure is a lot of it....from pointed sticks to robotic bombs
there was this one battle during WWI called the "Battle of Passchendale"
1917 in France I think....500,00 allied troops killed and 250,000 Germans
they figured out that for the ground that was gained it cost about one human life
for every 2 square inches....pretty pricey real estate...maybe too pricey.
No body remembers it now but for the folks laying dead it will never be forgotten.

I have another music recommendation which may be online or can probably
be found somewhere. It is Bruce Springsteen's version of a song called
"WAR" which I recommend from a double album which he put out some time ago.
Great rendition of an older song. Sung with a lot of heart.

Well, off the the " Kingdom of Hwicce" and may visit Zoe in
Rouffignac Cave...

"Therefore, hold to things which are reliable.
Look to simplicity; embrace purity;
Lessen the self; diminish desire."

"JOURNAUX INTIMES." Hypocrite reader-my likeness- my brother"

so I read on my blog that I have zero followers
this is good
very good
I used to have 3 followers but now it is none
therefore I will feel free to post this very interesting article from
Science magazine which gives some interesting information
about prayer and meditation and the effects that these practices
have on the brain.

"Drama is the back stairs of the intellect. Philosophers and
historians go in by the front door, but playwrights and novelists
sneak up the back stairs with their more disreputable luggage."

"...learning is accomplished by a sense of confidence..."

my front yard....where is CLEO?

NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH

GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA DECLARES A STATE OF PRETTY MAD
NUTRIA POPULATION EXPLOSION THREATENS CITIZENS SAFETY

According to our news sources from our affiliate station KFIB in Half Moon Bay
nutria populations have exploded and the entire agricultural business is at risk
our NPR correspondent Miss N. Fore May Shuun reports these non-native animals can
have up to 200 babies a year and soon the entire state will be ravaged by their
insatiable appetite for gourmet vegetables and artisianal fruits

"That seems like a lot of babies Miss Shunn"

"Well that's in quahog years. Quahogs live 500 years so that's why the numbers seem large."

"We have contacted Ms. Megan Tiffany Caitlin who is one of the founding members
of DAMN (daughters against mad nutrias) an association which seeks to alert
people about the threat that nutrias can present to the human population
Do you have any suggestions about how we might approach this problem?

"Well, nutrias love to eat sweet potatoes and other root crops so you should not
wear orange or green shoes or pants so they do not mistake you for a root crop.
And if they rush towards you  should stand your ground and stomp your foot
with authority and scream at them...but don't be rude. We believe that a
kinder gentler approach (thank you George) to nutria encounters should be used."

We contacted Mr. Hezekiah Gooddirt of the environmental consulting firm of
Gooddirt, Gooddirt and Loam to get his response to this alarming situation.
Mr. Gooddirt do you have any advice for the state?

"Well, as you know when there was a nutria infestation on the Amazon Creek
in Lane county Oregon we advised that they bring in jaguars and piranha fishes.
There was some protests from the local bike riders and the plan was shelved.
Many of the nutrias dies in the big freeze a year later."

We also contacted Mr. Tex Toogunn of the Environmental Protection Agency
to see what their response might be to this problem.

"We have this problem well in hand and are working with the Food and Drug
Administration and the department of Agriculture. They are going to jointly release
a statement declaring that certain nutria body parts have medicinal and aphrodisiac
properties and we are going to declare the nutria a highly endangered species  and we
expect the Chinese poachers to wipe them out within six months."

thank you for these comments
