is that it rediscovers, grasps
and reveals to us that reality
far from which we live, from
which we get farther and
farther away as the conventional
knowledge we substitute for
it becomes thicker and more

"Some of mankinds most terrible misdeeds..."

the guy standing next to me

i am sitting here in the
lie bury
tap tap tapping out my
blog
i am watching a documentary film
on the mac
the goebbels experiment
it is very interesting
on the wall is a photo
of a local guy
someone said i dont like
locals
that is not the case at all
i dont like those folks
who want to abuse their
influence
and deprive me of my civil rights

i spent 4 days gathering signatures
to get a couple of
laws on the ballot in the fall
one of the laws is a 34 page
proposal to make pot legal
sort of legal
i read all 34 pages
there were lots of people
who wanted to sign the petition
none of them read all of it
so i thought i would mention a few
of the items in the bill here

a private person can grow 4 pot plants
and have 8 ounces of pot in the house
if you want to be a pot seller you must
pay 250 bucks to apply
and 1000 bucks a year
pay 35 bucks per ounce of bud
10 bucks per ounce of  leaf
and five buck per immature plant
that you sell
the state hopes to collect
100 million bucks in pot taxes
40 percent will go to schools
now we get to some weirdness
you cannot let the plants be in public view
you cannot maintain an unsanitary establishment
you cannot be in the habit of using
alcohol, habit forming drugs, or pot
to excess
pretty funny huh
also you must be of
good repute and moral character
pretty funny
anyhow i am not sure who is going to be
on the morality and repute panel
but i doubt if keith richards could
go into the pot business here
me neither maybe
and i am as moral as
well as
as some other people
anyhow

"And may we heed.."

                                 yellow rumped (audubons) warbler

not much of a picture really
but someone said it was a rare bird
for this area
i sit around and eventually
i am part of the landscape

i never liked birders too much
they scurry
or is it flitter
about and usually scare
away the wildlife
but they are doing an important
service for documenting
what is happening with the
wildlife populations
its those damned life lists that
bother me
look what i have seen
i thought i saw a chimp
in the everglades once
but i just chalked it up to
chemical aberration's in the brain

i spent a week in the woods
praying
thats what i like to call it
being outdoors is praying
for me
i have not slept indoors
that is to say
in a house
or building
for nearly a year now
hope to keep it up
rather than succumb
to the hopelessness
of
acceptance

i was especially attentive on
easter sunday
and remembered something
that i read in one of my books
so i got out the book

"And may we heed the solemn
admonition set forth in this book-
not to fritter away in the worthless
doings of this world the supreme
opportunity afforded by human birth,
lest by our spiritual improvidence
we depart from this life spiritually
empty handed."
 Easter Sunday 1955 -w.y. evans-wentz
preface to the third edition of
"the tibetian book of the dead"

i wonder sometimes if i am
frittering or not

got to go
stay heedful

"Understand first..."

                                  cat stares

sat watching the geese
hundreds
suddenly they all rise at once
not the dogs this time
from behind me
a bald eagle
it circles
circles again
swoops down
picks something up
it is white
it got the feral cat
i always wondered if an
eagle would eat that cat

yesterday
another wildlife viewing spot
cinnaman teal
hooded mergansers
american coots
a few more species
strange people show up
i listen to the radio
watch with the binoculars
green truck pulls up
guy gets out
with a gun in a holster
on his hip
pretty wierd
sign says no shooting
he makes sure i see his gun
la de da
i have a sharp stick
get a life

never ending drama
i listen to my life coach
thick neck hahn
mr peaceful
he says
they act the way they do
because i act the way i do
hey wait a minute
i have a sharp stiick
he says forget the sharp stick
they will get a bomb
then where will you be
bombed
i throw away my sharp stick

"Understand first that licensed
arms dealers in Briton regard
themselves as some kind of rough-edged
elite-did then, do now- and that they enjoy
quite disproportionate privilages at
the hands of the police, the bureaucracy and
the intelligence services. For reasons I have never
understood. Their grisly trade puts them in
a relationship of confidence with these bodies.
Perhaps it's the illusioin of reality they impart,
of guns as the earthy truth of life and death.
Perhaps, in the tethered minds of our officials,
their wares suggest the same authority that
is exerted by those who use them.  I don't
know. But I've seen enough of the street side
of life in the years between to know that more
men are in love with war than ever get a chance
to fight one, and that more guns are bought
to satisfy this love than for a pardonable purpose."

i was thinking about the bunnies
i was thinking about bunnie life
i remembered back a few years
to about 1970
i was a zookeeper
young
excited about wildlife
a woman and her daughter came into the
zoo
wit5h a bunnie
said they could no longer keep it
would the zoo take it
sure said mike
we can use a bunnie
they went away happy
mike held bunnie tenderly
in his arms as he
walked down the sidewalk
when he got to the crocodile exhibit
he tossed bunnie to the crocs
they were delighted
we had lots of bunnies
all over the zoo
and we daily had to catch them and
feed them to the crocs
bunnies can get out of hand
pretty quickly
next day
mom and daughter return
they say they must have bunnie
back
they miss bunnie
mike says
bunnie died of a broken heart
too bad
my first lesson in
life and death in a world
of lifes and deaths
good lesson

you might have read my movie
review
i keep hearing about it
stolen from my notebooks
and apparently published
life and death in a world
predators
anyhow i may publish it later
i got off on a bunnie story

learned a new word
gastrophori
look it up

man ever sank undee the burden

"The stress laid..."

                                 puff

commentary
social commentary
socialist commentary
listened to the thin man
give his state of the union
speech
listened to all of it
pretty non controversial
did not take notes
but remember some of the
highlights I remember are
minimum wage
$10.10
  for federal employees
 not for the bottom
one percent
 eventually we will end
up with the 50 cent cup of
coffee costing a buck
then the minimum wage
will be useless
subsidize food
rent
 fuel
and stabilize the economy
there is no other reasonable option
however
there are some pretty thoughtful
people out there
who could come up with a
plan to get between
hard core capitalism and
hard core socialism
but they are not in economics

“Society turns away from the aged
worker as though he belonged to another
species.  Old age exposes the failure of
out entire society.” Simon de Beauvoir

i noticed a short statement about
attempting to bring
young men of color
more in line with the national
unemployment statistics
their numbers are much higher
than the rest of the demographic
the pres skirted over this very quickly
and there was a palpable silence when
he brought it up
so i will elaborate on this idea
i read a report about the graduation
rate in
predominately black universities
 i think southern university
in new orleans had a 2% graduation rate
the comment was that the worst thing for
college education for young black men was
 more young black men
the temptation to party is too great
 perhaps
and they party till they flunk out
this is a fact
separate but equal does not work
now i am still a fan of the thin man
he has shown me that he is
far above a representative citizen
and an exemplary person

then I listened to the comments about
homeless
ness
in this town
the comment was made
that poverty is not pretty
but
they have tourists taking
slum tours in
rio de janero
and india
better them than us
i suppose is the lure for gawking
some people who are classified as
homeless
prefer that mode of living
but I know that the supposed 600 beds
 which are available
do not guarantee
sleep or safety or sanitation
the rate of respiratory infection
is extremely high
almost certain
and anyone who has caught the
shelter cough
knows whereof i speak
more tent space may be a better route
than more beds
and more willingness to hire people
for an hour or two a day
and let them put 20 bucks in their pocket
would be a life saver
reality is that there are more and more
people who are heading towards
homelessness
and if they can be helped
before they are homeless
the whole situation would be
much improved
it is a shame that for people
who are working and trying to
avoid live in the streets
there seems to be little help
for them
it is a never ending fight for
some people to just stay
in a home and in groceries
once a person takes the plunge
and is in a situation where they
have no permanent housing
they often slide into a lifestyle
and a mindset which they remain
in for years
the tough hardened so called
street people
are inventive survivors
the coyotes of the human race
they will always be with us

anyhow such are the comments
from this perspective

mr cayetano

“The stress laid on upward social
Mobility in the U S has tended to
Obscure the fact that there can be
More than one kind of mobility and
More than one direction in which it can
Go. There can be ethical mobility as well
As financial, and it can go down as well as up.”

warrmer and wet
wet and warmer
listening to radio
trump and limbaugh
screeching global warming is a
hoax
they are a hoax
a bad dream
trump says we must be
competitive
with china and abandon
all those damned
environmental laws
I think he has some
reality issues

“Not only no result will foolish
counsel’s show,
But to disaster oft they doom mankind.”
                 Phaedrus “Fables I.

then i watched a science documentary
about the earth
from the inside out
inside planet earth
very good
and near the end
they interview scientists
and they say
there is this
anomaly
the south atlantic anomaly
which shows that the
magnetic field
is 30% weaker off the coast
of brasil and along the equator
and when the magnetic
field disappears
all the water and air
will disappear
makes global warming seem
pretty lame
so
i figure
the only way to live is
as if I might die
at any time
which of course is
true
anyhow
