"Men fight and lose the battle..."

                                everybodies got to eat

just read an essay by montaigne about
a fellow who was so sick he wanted to die
he decided to starve himself to death
after a few days of not eatting
be improved so much it was apparent he was going to live
but he said he had set his mind to dying
and so he went ahead and starved himself to death

i see these folks every day who look like they
have had a hard life
perhaps have done a lot of hard work
but now they do not have any work
and some of them have fallen into a habit
of having bad habits

the native americans who live in the pine ridge
indian reservation which has a population of
28,787 people  do not have the same lifestyle
that they had in centuries past
they have a place to live and food to eat
but not their old traditional ways
the town of whiteclay nebraska which has a
population of 10 sells 4.9 million cans of beer
per year
they are a few mile south of the reservation
 everybody needs something to do
besides have bad habits

"Men fight and lose the battle,
and the thing they fought for comes
about in spite of their defeat,
and when it comes, turns out not to be
what they meant, and others fight
for it under another name."  william morris

"Less it delights through open gates..."

                                cooked food

the roar of a large bore handgun
and the whine of a bullet over the top
of the suite van assured me that i was
upsetting the locals
where the bullet lodged is anybodies guess
started the morning at a few minutes after
5 am and stuffed the sleeping gear into the
bags and dropped 4 tea bags into the plastic
mug and raisens and quick oats into the empty
yogurt container
dorve to the quick stop and filled the mug with
hot water and poured some into the oatmeal
drive by the wildlife viewing station and see
someone waiting nearby in a car
screw that
i go a few miles away to another site where i watch
the sun come up and listen to
life by keith richards
interesting memories from a real guy
not a myth at all
around 8 am i go to the
bath place where i get on the list
my turn comes quick but i do not
get the the stall i had cleaned a few days before
so the brown slime on the walls is a pisser
the middle aged woman at the desk calls me
sweetie
if i called her sweetie i would be thrown out
and so what is the place most likely to have
your civil and constitutional rights violated in the
town
the library i would say
yep the library

after long deliberation i have decided to continue with
my scribbles even though there is a campaign
afoot to deprive me of all of my so called intellectual
property   the leeches who have made it their business
to steal every damn thing i write and every photo that i
take will have to live with the knowledge that they are too
stupid to create there own little blog and must steal mine

the pot blog

the first line of a statement issued by the u s attorneys office in
portland oregon  8/29/13 is
marijuana poses a significant risk to public health...
then lists eight actions that their office plans to do to control
marijuana related conduct
the significant risk to public health statement is wrong and must
be abandoned
“Every violation of truth is a stab at the health of human society.” r.w.emerson
i drove by several vineyards last week and i heard no gunfire
walked by a micro brewery and i heard no gunfire
i camped on blm property and heard gunfire
and also on national forest land
there were no open hunting seasons at the time
the pot growers were warning me not to venture near their plants
“He that maketh haste to be rich will not be innocent.”  Proverbs 28:20
when there was a prohibition on alcohol for recreational use the sale of
bitters and medicines which were mostly alcohol boomed
and large criminal organizations controlled booze distribution
today it is medical marijuana which is the big lie
what happened with booze has happened with pot
law enforcement has to turn a blind eye and take a back seat
to crooks
“Man must not check reason by tradition, but contrariwise,
must check tradition by reason.” l tolstoy
in an article entitled “the department of weed control”
by vincent beiser in the july/august pacific standard
magazine the author writes that 80 percent of the pot
is consumed by 20 percent of the users which is about
the same as alcohol users
he also states that 25 percent of the pot is used by persons
under the age of 21 years
this may to quote montaigne
“...evaporate the too vehement heat of their youth...’
or in modern parlance
they be chillin
very few folks sit down and drink shots of 190 proof everclear
grain alcohol
and see how long they can remain coherent
but the trend in pot use is just that
i read an interview with a mr dogg
who went to Jamaica with some weed which he shared
with a religious group and as he said
“knocked they faces off...’
too damn bad
pot is a fine social lubricant and when the general public
is allowed to freely participate in the development
of cultivators and blends we will have at our disposal
an enjoyable herb with which to recreat along with the products
of the 149 oregon breweries and many wineries

Men can not labor always. They must have recreation.
And if they have it not from healthful sources, they will very
likely to take if from poisoned fountains. Or if they have
pleasures, which, though innocent, are forbidden,
by the maxims of public morality, their very pleasures
are liable to become poisoned fountains.” Orville Dewey

"The greatest strength and wealth is self control." Pythagoras

                                 eye eye eye eye

ever get the feeling that you might be attracting too
much attention
well duh
even in the depths of the temperate rain forest
the pimps and the punks abound
there are way too many folks who are either
pimping for the cops
or being punks for the crooks
a whole generation has taken up a
world view which makes them

white
blue
green

seven
dog
cat
eagle
etc etc etc

so even as we speak
i wonder to what extent my
intellectual property
as i stop to pull out my memory card
is being pilfered

recently i spent some time writing
in the luxury of my folding chair
at the end of a logging road
several essays which i had hoped
to hoped to send into the blogggg-o-spere
but by the time i had reached an online terminal
folks were approaching me and quoting
my notebooks back to me
holy macaroni
now who would be so evil as to
steal my writing right out of my notebooks
apparently lots of folks
that is the shape of the world we live in i am afraid
pimps and punks
and a few
a very view righteous folks

"Therefore, Simplicius..."

                                 Homeless raccoon- amazon creek

latest homeless joke
what do you give a homeless man
answer
a 10 thousand dollar funeral
pretty funny eh
pretty sick
a fixture in de-troit died
homeless man
no money to dispose of his carcass
legally
he is in the fridge with lots of other
indigent folks
lots of money is donated to bury the guy
if they had donated before he was dead
his life could have been lived out with some
comfort and dignity
but no
i heard a radio report which said more companies
are letting employees off for up to
eight hours a year
with pay
to do volunteer work
lie work in soup kitchens
tears came to my eyes when i heard this
tears of laughter
why don't these folks show up at the state
capital and lobby for a higher minimum wage
hello
hello
is this line dead

i walked over to the local protest square
first i talked to a young guy who said he
was an occupier
he spoke of the chinese takeover
and of the helpful anarchist
he was kind of pre-occupied if you ask me
then i walked across the street to the
asleep at the wheel movement
lots of sub-standard tents in the square
lame lame lame
seems they need a place to camp
they need better camping gear first
i have a good book on tents of the world
many cultures live in tents all the time
good tents warm tents felt tents
anyhow i suggested a bus ride of less than
two bucks to the national forest where the
nurtureing wood gods would help to soothe
their worried minds
it worked for me
i did mention that they would need
an ax a shovel and three gallons of water
so as to not burn the forest down
anyhow that was my suggestion
i feel bad about the poor raccoons who have
been dispalced by inconsiderate people
elbowing them out of they homes
the racoons dont have bus fare you see

read a good letter
a few days ago
it was published in a magazine
part of the letter was this-

"One of the questions emerging from
the Iraq debacle must be this one;
Why did liberation at gunpoint yield
results that differed so radically from
what the wars advocates had expected?
Or, to sharpen the point, How did preventative
was undertaken by ostensibly the strongest
military in history produce a cataclysm?
Not one of your colleagues from the Bush

courage and wit to answer these questions"

"...an economy is truly healthy only..."

squirrel on the foodbox in the van

NEWS FLASH-NEWS FLASH
small town in northwestern oregon hit by violence

yesterday morning the small dairy town or tillamook was
shocked when the mayor and seven city council members were
taken hostage by several thousand holstein cows
at dawn yesterday thousands of cows bashed their way out
of their milking barns and proceeded to the town hall
where a meeting was taking place of the mayor and ten
city council members
the cows are demanding that their demands be met
or the hostages will be gored to within an inch of their lives
the demands
which include three milkings a day
an increase in their grain ration
better quality hay
kosher grain due to their hebrew heritage
no working on saturday
and that the town be renamed
tillamoo
also they insisted that the male calves be
put up for adoption to single child
chinese families
secretary of state kerry said he is in negotiation
with the chinese
the fbi hostage negotiation team said the situation
may become critical as mrs lawrence is lactose
intolerant and no food or drink has been allowed in
a lifetime citizen and dairy farmer
mr ezekiel teatsqueezer was quoted as saying
"i knowed we shudda cut the horns on them dangs cows"

"Man is still a super-aged-savage,...

                                        Black masked racer (Coluber constrictor)

have to limit my news intake at times
seems like the world is going to hell
in a hand-basket as they say
but the wilderness seems to be
much less wild and more predictable
than the world of civilized mankind

i listened with horror to the storey
about the captive women being found
in anthropological terms it might be
described as
marriage by capture
been going on for several thousand years
of course it has become increasingly rare
in modern societies
the thought of keeping persons against
their will seems particularly horrid in our
relatively free society
anyhow the next thought for me was
what should happen to the culprit
i am for public execution by firing squad
administered by the friends and family of the victim
this probably will not happen
but it would bring closure for many
like myself who feel that society has
not administered to the psychological needs
of the victimized community
then i thought what can be done to prevent
this kind of thing from happening again
and although i am not for a
big brother society
perhaps a big sister society would be helpful
i think if we put micro-chips in the bodies
of our pets and valuable livestock to
get them back when they are lost or stolen
a chip in the body of a loved one might be
a workable solution
and as nano-electronics becomes more
developed the implants will be less and less
obtrusive and more effective

anyhow my popularity is not
going to suffer from my views
as is is still hovering around
zero
a nice round number

predatory, acquisitive, primarily
interested in himself." E. A. Hooton

"Tyrant wrongs and rebel vengeance..."

                                         by pablo p

love to go to the art museum
lots of stimulation
art snobs to make fun of
such as that

hypocrisy has been on my mind lately
my own and other peoples
that guy who is dead and they can not
find a place to put his body
what is that about
those followers of j c might consider
the message he taught is
forgiveness

then i was thinking about a couple of
real good music people
springsteen and dylan
springsteen is supposed to be a
blue collar kind of guy
according to his biographer
the only job he ever had
except music
was painting his aunts house
when he was 16 years old
and dylan never pick a grape
or a peach or as near as i can
tell did nothing like woodie did
but still they made some good music

i came across this good definition

hysteropotmoi- those who have been thought dead
due to long absence while at war or traveling
in distant lands, and who return to their homes
but are not able to enter them through the
front door but only through an opening in the roof.

this is an ancient roman custom
makes you wonder about that
civilization

i see where a lot of folks are bowing
down to the warren
he is after all a money maker for
a lot of people
but you know he should use some
of that smarts to figure out a way to
get some money into the hands of those
workers who work at the businesses he
invests in and cannot afford to invest themselves
because they do not make enough money
think about that one warren when you sit
down to that double burger you love so much

i was listening to cyndi lauper on the
radio in an interview
she is a Sicilian american feminist musician
sort of
she seems like she was interested in the truth
more than the money
and one of the less hypocritical people in the business
she said
" Once you're on the bottom you can do
what you want. What are they going to do
put more nails in your coffin!"
i found that very inspiring
thanks

i have a problem
i may as well write about it here
according to the blog report
i am the only one who reads
this blog anyhow
this is sort of an outlet for
my angst and such
anyhow for some peculiar reason
this person has taken to
purloining my writing
i am sure that with a little effort
this person can come up with a
nice little blog of her own making

or maybe not

"Tyrant wrongs and rebel vengeance
will continue their vicious rounds,
until our minds are freed from their
 emotional adherence to conventions,
 traditions, superstitious, pious slogans,
 mob delusions, high toned demagogues,
and the psycho-neurotic leaders of our
moron civilization."     Theodore Schroder

"Heretics have been hated from the beginning..."

                                         pass this photo around

example of bad behavior at the campground

i am not popular
not popular at all these days
spent way too much time thinking and
saying negative things about powerful
people

heard ms. linda blimes on c-span
she is a
sort of an accountant
and has the wardrobe to prove it
anyhow she says according to her best
estimates the american involvement in
iraq and afghanistan will end up costing
the government between 4 and 6 trillion dollars

"another such victory and we are undone."
Pyrrus  king of epirus and general

we spend about 2 billion a year on national parks

i saw some words in the law dictionary

bucket shop- when a person or place pretends to
buy and sell stocks but does not do so.

i was thinking that is somewhat similar to what
the legislatures seem to do
they go to work but never seem to actually
pass any legislation
very odd

some other interesting words

cameralistics- the science of finance or public revenue
how to get it and how to spend it.

mobil vulgus- the fickle mob

cyricbryce- breaking into a church

i heard a radio report about
 a bordello in perth
australia which charges 400 buck per hour
and some of the girls make 200 thousand
bucks a year and they only get half of the $400
do the math

i have the belief that men
male persons should have complete
reproductive freedom
insofar as no woman can have any of any mans
genetic material for reproductive purposes
without the expressed written consent of the
owner of said genetic material
under penalty of law
that old system of
you get to keep any sperm you can capture
was good enough for the first million years
but it is simply outdated
no means no

decollatio= beheading

defossion= being buried alive

off the north east coast of canada there is
a one billion barrel oil field which is being developed
it will take 40 years to finish the field off
it will satisfy 12 days worth of global oil consumption

i seem to have incurred the wrath of some
of the power brokers
some of those would be
the marine corps- they seem to have re-assembled as
a mafia whose primary interests revolve around
embezzling and financial crimes- semper fungus
i think the best way to stop them
and i have given this some thought
call in the marines
takes a marine to stop a marine
always faithful
thanks

let us be honest now
if you cant say you belong to
the
italian
irish
jewish
gay
black
old
new
east
west
dog
cat
eagle
etc
etc
etc
group
you may not get any help at all

but as a heretic
that is what you can expect
get used to it
is what i have been told

"Heretics have been hated from the beginning
of recorded time; they have been ostracized,
 exiled, tortured, maimed and butchered;
but it has genersally roved impossible to
them; and when it has not, the society that
succeeded has always declined."

"Illegitimati non corborundum..."

stolen from the new yorker magazine

had a lot to think about lately
what with the drop in gold prices
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
sorry
just felt like having a laugh

went to work friday night
then on saturday night
then it rained and we went home early
then i showed up at the job on sunday
and
no one was there
so i went back to my motel room
spent half of what i made
but it was interesting to be in a room
for 30 hours
with news on half of the television stations

i was under close observation
on the job and in my motel room
to see if i was going to commit
criminal acts
i ate two bags of microwave popcorn
but that was legal
i think

aspersions- the making of a calumnious report
blacks legal dictionary

someone said i am a xenophobe recently
that is a lie
i am not at all afraid of xenon
not the gas or the warrior princess
not afraid of argon either
for that matter
not the gas or the movie
i am however very afraid of florine
i do have an opinion on immigration
i personally like to be around a lot of immigrants from
other places because i get to hear how they
compare this country to their country
i have learned a great deal from persons
who came from countries with repressive
regimes and how they view the direction
this country is headed
i think some of them keep one bag packed
ready to head for the border if things
go sour in a hurry
i have never met a french person who
thinks this country fares favorably to
france though

i also took the effort to look up
militia in the law dictionary

militia-" the body of citizens in a state,
enrolled for discipline as a military force,
but  not engaged in actual service except
in emergencies, as distinguished from regular
troops or a standing army."
\
then i looked up the second amendment
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of the people to
keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

except for crazy people of course
that is not in the amendment
 but i am sure
they meant crazy people are not allowed
to have guns

mark twain said that if every person had a gun
handy every time they wanted one
none of use would escape prison
that sounds about right to me

so i was wondering how come the gun
owners lobby does not make the
gun owners be well regulated or disciplined
or anything else for that matter
if you can beg borrow or steal a gun
or the money to buy one with
you are allowed to have a gun
this seems absurd to me
i had lots of guns over the years
i used to shoot the heads off dragonflies
and minnows and if i could kill a snake
with my BB gun i felt like i had saved
the neighborhood from a menace
i think there are still people who
think they are going to be heros
if they can just shoot somebody
dead
they are not well regulated or disciplined
they are just looking to enlarge their
social status by killing what they perceive
to be a menace
when often it is themselves who are
the menace
they are vigilante delusionals

anyhow i think if a person wants a gun
they should be qualified by a teacher
on a shooting range for that gun
and the more deadly that weapon is
the more they have to earn the qualifications

considering that more active duty
military combat personnel
who were in afganistan and iraq
have committed suicide than were killed in
combat i don't think having been in the military
is necessarily a qualification
for having a gun
 obviously there will be disagreement

i think the nra has ignored their responsibility
and the reason  they were formed
 which was to
train people to shoot and be safe with guns

i wish i had been weapons trained when i was a kid
instead of when i was an adult
and i wish even more i had been around
some competent naturalist who would have
instilled in me more desire to learn about the
wildlife and be less inspire to shoot at it
but i watched american sportsman and other
shows on the weekends and saw kudu and rhinos
being shot for sport
too bad for me
too bad for the wildlife

"The more we know of history..."

                                          copyright
my new girlfriend

oh  i guess you are wondering how an
old short poor guy like me gets a
homminid hottie like this
well she saw me rummaging through the
dumpster and recognized my excellent
hunter gatherer skills

i have spent some time recently working
as an extra on a movie
i was not the star
not even the co-star
actually i was like the mole
on lincolns face on mount rushmore
you had to look very close
and the lighting had to be just right
to see me at all
but the meal was good
and the pay also
but i digress
this fellow sits across the table from me
and he has in tow his lady friend
she is not the same skin tone as him
she is considered to be in another racial group
whatever
but it is apparent he is treating her like a
part of his apparel
like see my hot car
see my hot phone
see my hot girlfriend
yeah right
this has happened a lot
i just dont quite get it
girlfriends are not apparel

i was watching the news this morning
as i am prone to do when
confined to the stationary bike
i see that the american lady is wanted
back in italy for another trial
yeah right
you dont go girl

actually the picture is not of my girlfriend
at all
it is a painting of a rendition of what
Ardipithecus ramidus
might look like
4.4 million years ago
the copyright is by J. Mathernes 2009
had you going there though
didnt i
you thought it was an
Australopithecus
and you were being
prejudiced

"But then I sigh..."

this cartoon stolen from new yorker magazine

sitting on the stationary bike
my gaze shifts from left
to right
to left
at 20 t v screens
10 stations
28 stab wounds
2 shots to the head
you go girl
sinkhole got the wrong bush
but wait
what is this
the weeping preachers
what in the hell are these people
trying to sell
that s o b is showing pictures of kids
squatting in dirty water
drinking from a five gallon kettle
while cows in the back ground are
pooping in the water
and this preacher is asking for
all the money you can spare
if you only have 48 bucks
send it all he says
and we will drill wells for these
poor unfortunate people
these people need a course with
ms manners
and a few coffee cups
and turn those cows into bar b que
wise the hell up people
get into the 21st century
plant some vegetable gardens
get some goats and chickens
put that preacher on the bus back to the airport
wake up

"epoca de vacas flacas" as they say down south of here

"But then I sigh, and with a piece of Scripture,
tell them- that God bids us do good for evil:
and thus I clothe my naked villainy with old
odd ends, stolen forth of Holy Writ:
and seem a saint when most I play the devil.
Why, I can smile, and murder while I smile:
 and cry, content, to that which grieves my heart;
and wet my cheeks with artificial tears,
and frame my face to all occasions.

"One did not need to have a timid and fearful nature...

                                     copyright bootlegcircus@blogspot.com

went into the thrift store today
the sketch pad i wanted was gone
the bike i considered was gone
i went to the massive book section
loads of books
i have lots of books
but there was one i needed
i just did not know what it was
i kneeled down on the floor
and looked at the bottom shelf
on the very end
right there
first time
was the book i wanted
synchronicity- an acausal connecting principle
carl g jung
translated by r f c hull
50 cents
read this once years ago
need to read it again

still under close
very close scrutiny
the thought police have been
very hard at work
lots of stuff in my
file now
one fellow recently told me
my file goes back to
eighth grade
yeah i was a real tough cookie
whatever

my life has been
shall we say
negatively affected
by what one person called
bad police work
by bad police i might add
and i am a big supporter of
competent
honest
police
where ever they might be
but
unfortunately there is a massive
operation in the making which utilizes
"...the use of untested freelance informants
recruited under threat of prosecution."

i listened to a bbc storey a few days ago
about the chinese
re-education camps
for people who
complain
i suppose
the stalking poisoning harassment
is to
re-educate me
perhaps
well it is certainly
educating me
if not re-educating me

"One did not need to have a timid and fearful nature
to be easily persuaded that the completion of this
 plea was a sheer impossibility.
Not because of laziness or constructive malice,
which could only affect the advocate,
but because to meet an unknown accusation,
not to mention other possible charges arising
out of it the whole of ones life would have to
be passed in review, down to the smallest
actions and accidents, clearly formulated
and examined from every angle."

""Without depth of thought, or earnestness of feeling,.

                                         copyright Bootlegcircus@blogspot.com

wearing my green shirt this morning
blue shirt yesterday
red shirt then yellow shirt
got to keep the colored people off my back
world gone crazy
snakes teeth
eagle fingers
dog tongues
he is a six
she is an eight
what the hell is going on
hand jive
leg jive
foot jive
bobble heads
jung called them
psychic epidemics
i call them
ignorant
look i have an american passport
born in this here part of the geography
not a space alien
honest
ignorance is all the rage
heard a cop say that the kids
in chicago all had to be in a gang
just has to be that way he said
but lots of those kids are being
murdered
no
you do not have to be in
anything
not a color
not a number
not an animal totem
nothing
and anyone who says you do
in this country
is lying to you
to hell with them
they are impinging on your rights
as an american
on your freedom of choice
to not belong
do not give up your freedom
without a fight
fashion is not fashionable
freedom is fashionable

"Without depth of thought, or earnestness of feeling,
or strength of purpose, living an unreal life, sacrificing
substance to show, substituting the fictitious for the
natural, mistaking a crowd for society,
finding its chief pleasure in ridicule, and
exhausting its ingenuity in expedients for killing
time, fashion is among the last influences under
which a human being who respects himself, or who
comprehends the great end of life,
 would desire to be placed."

"To despise the animal..."

                                         Copyright Bootlegcircus@blogspot.com

listened to a report by a fellow
on the radio sunday evening
he talked about corruption
in louisiana
lots of corruption according to him
mainly folks in elected office
trying to augment their income
that sort of thing
probably part of the
highly esteemed
tradition i keep hearing about

several billion bucks
is missing from the money sent
to fight
the wars
not much said about that
though
probably part of the highly
regarded tradition
some more
lots of the money comes back to this
country to start
companies and corporations
which get a lot of government
contracts
go figure

i went out on several jobs last week
making that gulag wage of 7 dollars
and twenty five cents an hour
one job was for some guys who
were doing some building in a city park
the supervisor wore a usmc sticker
on his hardhat
at the end of the work day we chatted
about his security work in the middle east
he said he was making two thousand bucks
a day
he said he hated all of africa
said it was all corrupt
i told him the rhinos elephants and gorillas
in africa
were being poached into extinction
i asked him if he would go back to
africa to help train the wildlife conservationists
to protect the wildlife
he asked how much that paid
i said it did not pay anything
it was volunteer work
i think he thought i was crazy

i went to another job which was ending
and the construction foreman just spent
nearly three years building a casino
a pretty nice casino
as casinos go
i suppose
i always get asked the question
why in the hell dont you get a real
job
i dont know what that means exactly
whats more real than helping to build
a casino
really

so i was wondering about what people
will tell their grand children when
they ask
grand pa did you ever see a rhino
or an elephant
or a gorilla
before they went extinct

i spent several years as an animal
keeper and i cared for three
square lipped rhinos
mondo hitari and wagasa
lovely animals
sublimely so
when they moved the two females
to a new exhibit
the male
mr mondo
whined like a puppy
until they were reunited
i was profoundly shocked
i thought these animals were
not very emotional
but they are
and very much in need of saving
everyone should be a zookeeper
at one time of their life
or another
it will likely change how one
views the lives of our fellow
inhabitants on this planet

"To despise the animal basis of life,
to seek value only at the level of
conscious intelligence and rational
effort, is ultimately to lose one's
sense of cosmic relationships."
                     Lewis Mumford

"In the light of eternity..."

                                         copyright bootlegcircus@blogspot.com

christmas day looking south

spent 12 days of christmas camped
near the levee
enjoyed most of it
weather very dynamic
expecting tornado's
they were spotted all around me
but never occurred close enough
to do more than make me contemplate
my mortality
thats a good thing

listened to the news on the
radio a lot
some news overwhelmingly sad
and i had to turn to reading
i had happened to pick up a book
a few months ago which i was reading
"Bad men do what good men dream"
by r j simon a forensic psychologist
very informative book
the author states that we all have
the potential to do extreme evil
we have to practice not doing it
berserkers have been around for
a long time and before guns they
bashed heads with clubs

i came across the term
aesthetic distance
in the book i read
"Death and Money in the afternoon"
about the history of bullfighting in spain
the term refers to the sense that what
is happening on stage is not happening
to you
i have noticed that this notion seems
to be increasingly absent in our society
i dont watch much television around
camp
none at all actually
i listen to radio programs
i look at a lot of
outside
trees and birds and raccoons and such
keeps me kind of centered
yesterday i watched 90 minutes
of television while in the health club
90 minutes
i got dragged through the cesspool
of life
dead non existent girlfriends
hostages
weapons dilemmas
economic collapse
dietary dilemmas
and on and on and on
the only problems i have
camping is
when i run out of food or water
then i have to go to town
sometimes i catch rainwater
and sometimes i pick wild fruit
which helps a lot

"Really to see the sun rise or go down
every day, so to relate ourselves to a
universal fact, would preserve us sane
forever."  H. D. Thoreau

i have some recommendations
i listened to an interview on
wwno radio program called
inside out with alan tousaint
which is well worth looking up
and i heard this fellow named
catfish keith on taylor cafferys
hootnany power music show
and i looked him up on utube
excellent guitar and vocals
he says he was influenced by a fellow
named joseph pence
i came across sonny boy williamson
singing nine degrees below zero
and playing the harmonica
this is the gold standard of blues
and a while back i bought a copy
of the 1932 movie rain directed by
lewis milestone with joan crawford
i was very impressed

"In the light of eternity we shall see
that what we desired would have
been fatal to us, and that we would
have avoided was essential to our
 well-being."            Fenelon
