"The most brilliant intellect..."

                                     social inheritance

listening to the radio lately
news olds
old news

when i was around veterinarians
every day i learned something
about euthanasia
perma sleep injected into a vein
and the animal was dead without
a kick within about 6 seconds
or less
prison system might want to borrow some

heard that san fransisco is going to spend
more than 60 million bucks to hang a net
beneath the golden gate bridge
to stop jumpers
how odd

also heard that more people are incarcerated
in the u s a than in any other country
more than china which has 4 times
as many people

also heard that gun owners are twice
as likely to commit suicide with a gun
as non gun owners
and as a matter of fact
guns do kill people

there was a lot of talk about
looting at a plane wreck
there was a time when folks
living on the coast used to build
big fires at night to make sailing
ships think is was a lighthouse
and make them run into the rocks
then in the morning everyone in the
village would go out and grab up the
stuff that had floated ashore from the
shipwreck
and if i was still drinking and i was walking
along and suddenly a bunch of bodies
started falling from the sky
and i saw bottles of booze falling to the
ground too
i might just have to have a drink

went and got my business done
with the DMV today
pretty tough tests around here
almost failed the eyeball test
not the vision test
not the color test
the sqweenchy butt test
almost failed it
you have restrictions on your
licenses if you fail this test
they send around a sqweenchy butt
and if your eyeballs move around in your
head too much they make you drive
with those blinders on like they
used to make horses and mules wear
because they say if you are susceptible to
sqweenchy butts you could run over
someones puppy or something like that
never heard of the sqweenchy butt
well in primateology it is called
ischial callosities
and primates present
ischial callosities
humans sqweenchy butt the
gluteus maximus
but it is the same thing
just covered with some cloth

however i passed the test
as i explained that my eye-balls
always vibrate in my head like that
so i don't have to wear the blinders
next year they are going to have the
titty jiggle test
i may just ride a bike

in the meantime
i have been put on notice
that i am on the watch list
at the library
a simple misunderstanding
while speaking to the librarian
i noticed what i assumed was a fly
on her bare shoulder
as is the custom in these parts
i leaned over to lick off this fly
but it did not budge and i just
barely put a tooth on it
it was a mole and not a fly at all
but the librarian screamed and called
in the referee
the referee agreed and said it was an
honest mistake but advised i wear my glasses
and not lick at any insects smaller than
a locust

"My specialty is living..."

                                           your brain on vegetables

something i picked up yesterday
looks like a dried armadillo brain
but it is not
look
i need to make a retraction
i took a photo of a plane
i thought it was a drone
because i am stupid
there are only three people who
have ever read this blog
a police woman
sex crimes division
a lawyer
out of work
and a retarded person
myself
the lawyer said
that is a commercial plane
and we will sue you if you
do not make a retraction
but just to show i have nothing
against drones i will make an
argument in favor of drones
within the last year there was
a research plane which crashed
and the two researchers were killed
they were doing wildlife surveys
probably these surveys could have been
done with one of those 300 dollar
4 electric motor 2 camera drones
they sell online
lots of work can be done with these
drones which will make people safer
so go learn to fly a drone

i heard of a gathering of friends of ken
last week
or was it just a prank
i read some of kens writing
i watched some of kens films
i just dont like pranks
someone said that not many people
showed up for the ken gathering
they said it was because ken is a has been
those who say that are
never were's
mr ken has a solid place in literature
and a more solid place in as an influential
thinker and person who sought to advance
societies world view
he said himself he wanted to live a life
be a person of action
and not just a writer
he was a person of a lot of action
and he made a difference
thanks ken

was making the rounds this morning
snatching cans and bottles
always stop at the bridge to see what
kind of trash is floating in the backwash
yep several plastic bottles
i jump the fence to get them
i disturb a hornets nest
they sting my sorry self
i grab the trash and toss it ashore
i jump the fence again
they sting me some more
no good deed goes unpunished
actually because i usually feel
superior when i pick up trash
the hornets were probably saying
here ego boy hows about some comedown
then a hundred yards down the sidewalk
the tires go left
i go right
and the cans and bottles come down
between us
i walk over to the can 50 yards away
which is where i was headed when i
fell flat
i carry on
the baskets are filled now
a local detective suggests i go to
the college to get cans
he says there are a lot of cans there
these folks like to send me places
where i can be put under suspicion of
doing some heinous crime
i camp in the mountains for a week
within hours of my return to town
i am pulled over by the local constabulary
officer mumbles
running a red light
it was yellow
he sniffs the van
looks around for incriminating evidence
gets all my papers wet in the rain
not guilty
anyhow being a suspect can be a very
trying experience
for these last 20 years or so i have
been much suspected
but eventually i learned that it is
all a part of the game
i learned that from folks like
mr ken

still it is very distressing
to be constantly under harassment

but i dont feel like selling out

"My specialty is living said
a man (who could not earn his bread
because he would not sell his head)

two billion pubic lice inside
one pair of trousers (which had died)

"If I devote myself..."

                                  slime mold   our friend

are we having fun yet
sitting here in the lie bury
watching home movies
of sigmund freud
what does that tell you
about my life
sexual repression
every where i look
sunday was interesting
biking the bike trail
snatching cans and bottles
i see a plastic bag
i will pick it up with the grabber
the left hand works good
the front brake works good
the brain
not so much
i am laying crumbled
on the sidewalk
surrounded by cans and bottles
bruised and disgusted
but not stopped
i pick up my cans
and dignity
and the plastic bag
a more cautious and
bruised biker
saved by the helmet again

listening to the radio
pundit talking about
a few folks who have
the most money
what a novel idea
not really
you hear it ten times a day
occupy
occupy
please
that is not a solution
the solution is to
start a peoples bank
a peoples employment service
a peoples insurance company
it is all legal
and very possible
listen to ralph nader
he is still alive and kicking
he says there is no place for
pessimism
and we must get on
with changing the system

and contemplations, I must first see
at least, that I do not pursue them

"The courtesan Flora..."

                                  drone overhead yesterday-eugene, or.

probably just looking for rare birds
yeah right
pretty big drone

lots of sex talk this week
nut case with too many guns
shoots folks cause he
feels rejected
1901-1908 belle gunness
of indiana
murders 14 men suitors
may have killed 42 people
never caught
count your blessings pal

here in dysfunction junction
there is talk of who is guilty
of possibly rapeing a woman
one letter to the editor says
it was group sex consensual
the female says it was rape
the men says it was not
the district lawyer says
he wont prosecute
the female faction screeches
for justice
promiscuity
means lots of sex
however
even a woman who has lots of
sex
even a woman who has lots
of sex for money
any woman
at any time has the right
to say
no
not now
finish it
be gone
men do too

"Some of mankinds most terrible misdeeds..."

the guy standing next to me

i am sitting here in the
lie bury
tap tap tapping out my
blog
i am watching a documentary film
on the mac
the goebbels experiment
it is very interesting
on the wall is a photo
of a local guy
someone said i dont like
locals
that is not the case at all
i dont like those folks
who want to abuse their
influence
and deprive me of my civil rights

i spent 4 days gathering signatures
to get a couple of
laws on the ballot in the fall
one of the laws is a 34 page
proposal to make pot legal
sort of legal
i read all 34 pages
there were lots of people
who wanted to sign the petition
none of them read all of it
so i thought i would mention a few
of the items in the bill here

a private person can grow 4 pot plants
and have 8 ounces of pot in the house
if you want to be a pot seller you must
pay 250 bucks to apply
and 1000 bucks a year
pay 35 bucks per ounce of bud
10 bucks per ounce of  leaf
and five buck per immature plant
that you sell
the state hopes to collect
100 million bucks in pot taxes
40 percent will go to schools
now we get to some weirdness
you cannot let the plants be in public view
you cannot maintain an unsanitary establishment
you cannot be in the habit of using
alcohol, habit forming drugs, or pot
to excess
pretty funny huh
also you must be of
good repute and moral character
pretty funny
anyhow i am not sure who is going to be
on the morality and repute panel
but i doubt if keith richards could
go into the pot business here
me neither maybe
and i am as moral as
well as
as some other people
anyhow

"And may we heed.."

                                 yellow rumped (audubons) warbler

not much of a picture really
but someone said it was a rare bird
for this area
i sit around and eventually
i am part of the landscape

i never liked birders too much
they scurry
or is it flitter
about and usually scare
away the wildlife
but they are doing an important
service for documenting
what is happening with the
wildlife populations
its those damned life lists that
bother me
look what i have seen
i thought i saw a chimp
in the everglades once
but i just chalked it up to
chemical aberration's in the brain

i spent a week in the woods
praying
thats what i like to call it
being outdoors is praying
for me
i have not slept indoors
that is to say
in a house
or building
for nearly a year now
hope to keep it up
rather than succumb
to the hopelessness
of
acceptance

i was especially attentive on
easter sunday
and remembered something
that i read in one of my books
so i got out the book

"And may we heed the solemn
admonition set forth in this book-
not to fritter away in the worthless
doings of this world the supreme
opportunity afforded by human birth,
lest by our spiritual improvidence
we depart from this life spiritually
empty handed."
 Easter Sunday 1955 -w.y. evans-wentz
preface to the third edition of
"the tibetian book of the dead"

i wonder sometimes if i am
frittering or not

"Understand first..."

                                  cat stares

sat watching the geese
hundreds
suddenly they all rise at once
not the dogs this time
from behind me
a bald eagle
it circles
circles again
swoops down
picks something up
it is white
it got the feral cat
i always wondered if an
eagle would eat that cat

yesterday
another wildlife viewing spot
cinnaman teal
hooded mergansers
american coots
a few more species
strange people show up
i listen to the radio
watch with the binoculars
green truck pulls up
guy gets out
with a gun in a holster
on his hip
pretty wierd
sign says no shooting
he makes sure i see his gun
la de da
i have a sharp stick
get a life

never ending drama
i listen to my life coach
thick neck hahn
mr peaceful
he says
they act the way they do
because i act the way i do
hey wait a minute
i have a sharp stiick
he says forget the sharp stick
they will get a bomb
then where will you be
bombed
i throw away my sharp stick

"Understand first that licensed
arms dealers in Briton regard
themselves as some kind of rough-edged
elite-did then, do now- and that they enjoy
quite disproportionate privilages at
the hands of the police, the bureaucracy and
the intelligence services. For reasons I have never
understood. Their grisly trade puts them in
a relationship of confidence with these bodies.
Perhaps it's the illusioin of reality they impart,
of guns as the earthy truth of life and death.
Perhaps, in the tethered minds of our officials,
their wares suggest the same authority that
is exerted by those who use them.  I don't
know. But I've seen enough of the street side
of life in the years between to know that more
men are in love with war than ever get a chance
to fight one, and that more guns are bought
to satisfy this love than for a pardonable purpose."

i was thinking about the bunnies
i was thinking about bunnie life
i remembered back a few years
to about 1970
i was a zookeeper
young
excited about wildlife
a woman and her daughter came into the
zoo
wit5h a bunnie
said they could no longer keep it
would the zoo take it
sure said mike
we can use a bunnie
they went away happy
mike held bunnie tenderly
in his arms as he
walked down the sidewalk
when he got to the crocodile exhibit
he tossed bunnie to the crocs
they were delighted
we had lots of bunnies
all over the zoo
and we daily had to catch them and
feed them to the crocs
bunnies can get out of hand
pretty quickly
next day
mom and daughter return
they say they must have bunnie
back
they miss bunnie
mike says
bunnie died of a broken heart
too bad
my first lesson in
life and death in a world
of lifes and deaths
good lesson

you might have read my movie

i keep hearing about it
stolen from my notebooks
and apparently published

anyhow i may publish it later
i got off on a bunnie story

learned a new word

"The stress laid..."

                                 puff

commentary
social commentary
socialist commentary
listened to the thin man
give his state of the union
speech
listened to all of it
pretty non controversial
did not take notes
but remember some of the
highlights I remember are
minimum wage
$10.10
  for federal employees
 not for the bottom
one percent
 eventually we will end
up with the 50 cent cup of
coffee costing a buck
then the minimum wage
will be useless
subsidize food
rent
 fuel
and stabilize the economy
there is no other reasonable option
however
there are some pretty thoughtful
people out there
who could come up with a
plan to get between
hard core capitalism and
hard core socialism
but they are not in economics

“Society turns away from the aged
worker as though he belonged to another
species.  Old age exposes the failure of
out entire society.” Simon de Beauvoir

i noticed a short statement about
attempting to bring
young men of color
more in line with the national
unemployment statistics
their numbers are much higher
than the rest of the demographic
the pres skirted over this very quickly
and there was a palpable silence when
he brought it up
so i will elaborate on this idea
i read a report about the graduation
rate in
predominately black universities
 i think southern university
in new orleans had a 2% graduation rate
the comment was that the worst thing for
college education for young black men was
 more young black men
the temptation to party is too great
 perhaps
and they party till they flunk out
this is a fact
separate but equal does not work
now i am still a fan of the thin man
he has shown me that he is
far above a representative citizen
and an exemplary person

then I listened to the comments about
homeless
ness
in this town
the comment was made
that poverty is not pretty
but
they have tourists taking
slum tours in
rio de janero
and india
better them than us
i suppose is the lure for gawking
some people who are classified as
homeless
prefer that mode of living
but I know that the supposed 600 beds
 which are available
do not guarantee
sleep or safety or sanitation
the rate of respiratory infection
is extremely high
almost certain
and anyone who has caught the
shelter cough
knows whereof i speak
more tent space may be a better route
than more beds
and more willingness to hire people
for an hour or two a day
and let them put 20 bucks in their pocket
would be a life saver
reality is that there are more and more
people who are heading towards
homelessness
and if they can be helped
before they are homeless
the whole situation would be
much improved
it is a shame that for people
who are working and trying to
avoid live in the streets
there seems to be little help
for them
it is a never ending fight for
some people to just stay
in a home and in groceries
once a person takes the plunge
and is in a situation where they
have no permanent housing
they often slide into a lifestyle
and a mindset which they remain
in for years
the tough hardened so called
street people
are inventive survivors
the coyotes of the human race
they will always be with us

anyhow such are the comments
from this perspective

mr cayetano

“The stress laid on upward social
Mobility in the U S has tended to
Obscure the fact that there can be
More than one kind of mobility and
More than one direction in which it can
Go. There can be ethical mobility as well
As financial, and it can go down as well as up.”
